Pracuji jako výzkumník v Biologickém centru Akademie věd ČR, v Hydrobiologickém ústavu (HBU) v Českých Budějovicích, v České republice. Dříve jsem pracoval jako výzkumník v Leibnizově institutu pro sladkovodní ekologii a vnitrozemské rybářství (IGB) v Berlíně a také jako docent na Institutu pro multidisciplinární výzkum Univerzity v Bělehradě, na katedře environmentálních věd. Doktorát jsem absolvoval na Univerzitě v Bělehradě a magisterský titul na Švédské univerzitě zemědělských věd (SLU) v Uppsale.Obě obory se zabývaly různými otázkami souvisejícími s ochranou a řízením jeseterů v řece Dunaj.
Mé výzkumné zájmy se rozprostírají do různých témat, ale především v oblasti vymírání druhů a hodnocení rizik vymírání, biologických invazí, ochranářské kulturomiky, ekologie ryb a řízení rybolovu a vývoje nových modelových přístupů k hodnocení rizik.
