Description

I have studied Bachelor degree in Biology, Master degree in Ecosystem Biology and PhD in Hydrobiology at Faculty of Science University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The topic of the thesis was “Assessment of the ecological potential in Czech reservoirs based on fish community”. As a member of Department of Fish and Zooplankton Ecology I participated in many ichthyological survey in reservoirs, lakes and rivers in Austria, the Czech Republic, France, the Netherland and the United Kingdom. I was at work placement at IRSTEA (France) focused on fish community indicators on European scale and University of Hull focused on environmental DNA matabarcoding. In the field of science I am studying fish ecology in reservoirs, mainly population dynamics of piscivorous fish, application of biological data to assessment of the ecological quality related to Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) and eDNA. I am author or co-author of more than 50 scientific papers published in Czech or IF journals, methodologies, books and other publications.

Teaching Hydrobiology - Field Excursion
Faculty of Science USB
Description:

Cílem kurzu je podpořit praktickou připravenost posluchačů pro řešení hydrobiologické problematiky v terénu. Kromě rutinní schopnosti odběru vzorků a ovládání základních terénních měřících přístrojů by cvičení především mělo naučit všímat si v terénu indicií, signalizujících momentální stav vodního ekosystému, kriticky je hodnotit a syntetizovat informace do uceleného závěru.

The aim of this course is improve students practical skills for dealing with hydrobiological issues in the field. The course is based on commonly used sampling methods and measuring environmental data, but also looking around indices reflecting actual status of the water ecosystem, assess it and synthesise information into conclusions.

Biology of Water Organisms II
Faculty of Science USB
Description:

Cílem kurzu je demonstrovat hlavní zástupce živočišných a rostlinných organismů žijících u nás ve stojatých a tekoucích vodách. Seznámit se s metodami jejich sběru, zpracování a určování. Probrat biologii těchto organismů, tj. rozmnožování a ontogenezi, potravní biologii, dýchání, vylučování, nervová, smyslová a pohybová ústrojí. Dále bionomii jednotlivých druhů a jejich ekologické niky ve vodním ekosystému.

The aim of this course is to demonstarte the main representatives of animals and plants inhabiting lotic and lenitic freshwater ecosystems, to present methods of collecting, sampling, presevation and determination. To present the biology of organisms, i.e. their mode of reproduction, ontogenesis, feeding biology, respiration, excretion, sensory organs and locomotion. In individual species present their bionomy and their ecological niche in the ecosystem.
