Stable isotope evidence from archived fish scales indicates carbon cycle changes over a four-decade history of the Římov Reservoir (Czechia)

The potential of archived fish scales to provide environmental records was investigated. A four-decade dataset of fish-scale stable isotopes from a dam lake was utilised. Fish-scale δ13C values recorded the long-term carbon cycling dynamics of the lake ecosystem. Archived fish-scale samples can be used to reconstruct past aquatic environments.
