    I am interested in knowing the composition, structure and functioning of the microbial communities in aquatic systems, with special emphasis on the freshwater environments. In particulary, I'm studying carbon flow from major linages of Betaproteobacteria (Limonahbitans, Polynucleobacter) into heterotrophic flagellates. During my Phd I would like to give answer to the question: Which freshwater bacterioplankton taxa represent the major link in carbon flow to the grazer food chain, and which grazer taxa mediate this process in different freshwater environments?. I am also interested in isolations of particular heterotrophic flagellates, design of CARD FISH probes for ceratan groups and amplicon sequencing of freshwater protists communities.
