1980: Graduated in water chemistry, Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague
1998: PhD in environmental chemistry (Influence of atmospheric deposition on acidification and trophic status of surface waters in mountain areas), Charles University, Prague
2003 and 2007: Associated professor and professor, respectively, in hydrobiology, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (USB)
Employment:
1980 -1985: Water and air quality manager, Environmental Section of Calofrig Company, Borovany, Czech Republic
1986 -1998: A member (since 1994 a head) of chemical laboratory, Institute of Hydrobiology, Academy of Science of the Czech Republic (ASCR) (water and soil analyses, new methods).
1994 -present: Assistant, associated prof., and professor, University of South Bohemia (10 -30% contract for teaching and ecological research). Lecturer of “Water Treatment Technologies”.
1998 -2003: Research associate, Hydrobiological Institute, ASCR (atmospheric deposition, soil and water chemistry, acidification and recovery of alpine and forest ecosystems).
2003 -present: Senior scientist, Biology Centre ASCR, Institute of Hydrobiology
Current research: Nutrient cycling in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, soil-water and sediment-water interactions, ecosystem recovery from acidification, environmental modelling.
Projects: Principal investigator or co-investigator of 7 national or international projects (GACR, NFM) and participation in 5 EU projects focused on mountain ecosystems (AL:PE2, MOLAR, EMERGE) and modeling the effects of global changes on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems (EURO-LIMPACS, REFRESH).

Description:

Druhy a chemické složení vod. Hlavní zdroje znečitování vod. Zdroje pitné a užitkové vody. Infiltrace, jímání podzemních a povrchových vod. Zásobování vodou. Požadavky na jakost pitné, užitkové a provozní vody. Úprava podzemních vod (odkyselování, odželezňování a odmanganování). Úprava povrchových vod (mechanické předčištění, usazování, zahušťování, flotace, filtrace, čiření, adsorbce a hygienické zabezpečení vody). Speciální technologie úpravy vody (iontoměniče, destilace, ultrafiltrace, reverzní osmóza, elektrodialýza, odsolování mořské vody, denitrifikace a příprava ultračisté vody). Úprava užitkové a provozní vody (zemědělství, stavebnictví, energetika a vybraná průmyslová odvětví). Základní procesy čištění komunálních a průmyslových odpadních vod (aktivace, biofiltry, anaerobní stabilizace, srážení).
